The mind focused inward can still grow greed for internal pleasant
mental states, such as calm, jhāna, joy, content, bliss, etc. etc...
The latent tendencies (asusayas) are eliminated gradually:
1: The Latent Tendency to Sense-Desire.
2: The Latent Tendency to Aversion & Anger.
3: The Latent Tendency to Skeptical Doubt.
4: The Latent Tendency to Speculative Views.
5: The Latent Tendency to the Conceit 'I am'.
6: The Latent Tendency to Craving for Becoming.
7: The Latent Tendency to plain Blind Ignorance.
The Stream-Enterer (Sotāpanna) has eliminated 3+4
The Non-Returner (Anāgāmi) has eliminated 1+2+3+4
The Arahat has eliminated all 1-7...
